Nippon Kodo Special TV Program “Succeeding Kodo Tradition, More than 500 years of Inheritance“
Nippon Kodo proudly announces the broadcasting of a special TV program “Succeeding Kodo Tradition, More than 500 years of Inheritance” through BS Japan, a leading satellite broadcasting station in Japan.
Nippon Kodo is the exclusive and official sponsor of this TV program, and is a part of the BS Japan 2007-2008 Holiday Special Program.
This 2-hour documentary program is focusing on Mr. Souhitsu Hachiya, the Wakasosho/Appointed Successor and his cultural heritage of Kodo Shinoryu/Kodo Shino School.

【Broadcasting Program 】Kodo, the Way of Incense appreciation, is one of the oldest Japanese Cultural Heritages. It originated in the 15th century, when Higashiyama Bunka/Culture of the Eastern Mountain prospered in the Muromachi era. Nowadays, Kodo Shinoryu is one of the greatest and influential Kodo Schools. Mr. Souhitsu Hachiya, the Wakasosho from 2005, will become the 21st Grand Master. Mr. Souhitsu Hachiya is 32 years old, and when he succeeds the title from the 20th Grand Master, Mr. Sougen Hachiya, he will be embodied with all of the techniques, knowledge, and philosophy of the Kodo Shino School. This program is focusing on Mr. Souhitsu Hachiya and his Kodo heritage of the Shino School, through his performance in Kodo ceremonies. |
