“The Variety of Life of Shiretoko”
Shiretoko’s Peninsula stretches out from the sea to the mountains, bringing in a variety of vegetation which comes from the seashore, plains, and high mountains.
There are also endangered species such as the eagle-owl, Shiretoko Violet and other rare animals and plants that are distributed throughout the peninsula.
Larger mammals also inhabit the peninsula such as Bears, Hokkaido Dears, Sea Lions, and Seals.
The peninsula is built up of a combination of different landscapes, which creates the many kinds of food sources needed to support the variety of wild life living there.
