This Month’s Temple:   Kiyomizudera (Pure Water Temple)

Kiyomizudera is a distinctive temple that is made up of wood and supported by numerous pillars placed on the slope of a mountain.

This temple is also well known for the expression “Leap off the stage of Kiyomizudera” which means to be bold and make a decision.

One of the great features of Kiyomizudera is that you can see a beautiful view of Kyoto from the temple.

Even before Kyoto became one of Japan’s major cities, Kiyomizudera has been a famous tourist spot. It is constantly crowded with many visitors who come to pray and enjoy the beauty of the four seasons.
